Cara Lindo

Cara began her legal career clerking at the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender and the Federal Defender Program. Upon being admitted to the Illinois bar in 2020, Cara began working as an Assistant Public Defender at the DuPage County Public Defender’s Office, representing hundreds of clients facing complex and challenging criminal charges such as domestic violence, orders of protection, and DUI’s. Cara sharpened her courtroom skills through a significant number of jury and bench trials, and countless hearings. The fulfillment and passion Cara found in these experiences cemented in her the desire to serve others through the practice of law.

Using the trial mindset that she developed as a public defender and thereafter transitioning to the practice of family law, Cara employs compassion, patience, and exceptional attention to detail when educating and connecting with her clients. Cara believes that building trust and engagement are essential to providing the best possible outcome for her clients. Despite transitioning her practice area to family law, Cara continues to represent and assist clients with complex and challenging criminal issues, where needed.

Cara has an extensive, interdisciplinary-focused background, having received a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration prior to earing her Juris Doctor at DePaul University in 2019. Cara concentrated her legal studies on intellectual property courses, earning a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law. While at DePaul Cara served on the executive board for the Arts and Cultural Heritage Law Society and competed nationally as a member of DePaul’s National Trial Team. While pursuing her legal education, Cara also volunteered her time at Ascend Justice, a domestic violence legal clinic based in Chicago, Illinois.

When she is not working hard for her clients in the courtroom, Cara enjoys reading, baking, and travelling.
